The National Council for Women (NCW) organized a vocational training on the craft of "Sewing and Sewing Machine Maintenance", and implement in cooperation with TREDCO EL SAYAD, within the “Addressing the Economic Drivers of Irregular Migration” project implemented by NCW in partnership with the European Union (EU). It targeted women in Gharbia Governorate and lasted from 6 to 20 May 2023.

      The training included teaching women and youth the basics and stages of the craft to enhance their abilities and develop their skills to find job opportunities and consequently have a source of income to improve their living standards, as well as qualifying them for high quality and mass production then opening a production line for them, in addition to training them on the maintenance of sewing machines to overcome the obstacles that may face them during their work.

    It is worth noting that the “Addressing the Economic Drivers of Irregular Migration” project aims to promote alternatives to irregular migration through promoting enterprise development and work opportunities for women and youth in Beheira, Gharbia, Luxor and Minya Governorates, in addition to implementing awareness-raising activities to highlight the risks of irregular migration based on the previous efforts.
